Q. What is the need of RAM? How does it differ from ROM?
Answer:-
RAM is used to store data temporarily while the computer is working. Whenever the computer is started or a software application is launched, the required program and data are loaded into RAM for processing.
Differences between RAM and ROM:-
RAM:-
• RAM refers to random access memory where both read and write operations can take place.
• RAM is a volatile memory.
• Its contents are lost when power is turned off.
• It stores data temporarily.
ROM:-
• ROM refers to read only memory where only read operation can take place.
• The ROM is a non-volatile memory.
• It stores data permanently.
• Its contents are not lost when power is turned off.
