Q. Distinguish between internal and external memory.
Answer :-
Internal memory:-
• It is also known as primary storage or main memory.
• It is volatile in nature in the case of RAM but ROM is non-volatile.
• It is used to store data temporarily in case of RAM.
• It stores data when the power supply is on otherwise it removes data after the power supply goes.
• Internal memory is working memory.
• Examples are RAM and ROM.
External memory :-
• It is also known as secondary memory or secondary storage.
• It is non-volatile in nature.
• They are used to store data permanently.
• It stores data when the power supply is on after that when the power supply is gone it saves the data.
• External memory is not working memory.
• Examples are hard disk, floppy disk, memory card, cassette etc.
